I can see it in your eyes, the pain of your life captured and maintained in hopelessness.
I can see it in your eyes, the fear that takes life from you and keeps you hooked.
I can see it in your eyes struggle everyday fighting invisible enemies.
I can see it in your eyes, the desperation of not achieving the life that could be.
I can see it in your eyes, the fear that steals happiness from everything you could get.
I can see it in your eyes, the blame as you bear that eats your soul.
I can see it in your eyes, you are so much more than what you are allowed.
I can see it in your eyes, the others who look down on you without ever understanding.
I can see it in your eyes, the eyes of others who beat you to pieces.
I can see it in your eyes, all the illusions you have had to endure.
I can see it in your eyes, your feelings you have had to save.
I can see it in your eyes, your aching and bleeding soul.
I can see it in your eyes, your bewilderment and incomprehension.
I can see it in your eyes, you just want to live your life like everyone else.
I can see it in your eyes, the fear that slowly devours you.
I can see it in your eyes, help you seek but do not get.
I can see it in your eyes, tears tells me everything.
I can see it in your eyes that you think the key to your salvation is in my hands.
I can see it in your eyes, you are still fighting your enemy.
I can see it in your eyes, you believe I have the strength to win.
I can see it in your eyes that it is me who must have fear in your eyes to disappear.
I lke the repetition that drives this piece. It strikes me as having a percussive quality, like a battlefield artillery barrage.I wonder if you’ve ever considered doing performance or what they call “open mic.” poetry? There’s certainly a lot of dramatic potential in your work that might be given an added dimension by also being narrated in front of an audience.
I enjoyed this very much! Thank you
Thank you for your fine remarks on my poetry. 🙂
Emotive and moving.
