If Only I Could Sleep At Night

I dream of Humpty on the wall
Seeing him crumbling in the fall
I wake up screaming in sheer fright
If only I could sleep at night

Rumpelstiltskin cut off her hair
Just as the prince was nearly there
He came crashing on Snow White
If only I could sleep at night

Cinderella shimmied up the beanstalk
When the Giant went for a short walk
I sweat and shiver at her plight

Little Miss Muffet ate all her whey
Three blind mice asked her to stay
The spider challenged me to a fight
If only I could sleep at night

Hansel and Gretel sailed the seas
That suddenly turned to blue cheese
With Aladdin’s lamp I took flight
If only I could sleep at night

Little Jack Horner ran through the town
The three blind mice stole his night-gown
The cow and the moon had a big fight
If only i could sleep at night

Barkis said he was willing
Tom Sawyer stole a shilling
Sindbad pushed with all his might
If only I could sleep at night

Elves and wolves and wicked gnomes
Gulliver ties down Sherlock Holmes
These scary dreams give me the fright
If only I could sleep at night

About Elizabeth Kuriakose

A hectic career as a banker and looking after family kept me busy for ages. Quit my job to look after family. Once the children were old enough to take care of themselves, I discovered my love for writing in late 2014. Words in poetry or prose have been my constant companion thence on.
