Flirtations

Flirting with ideas
Sits Edison, stone deaf
With an incandescent bulb
Lighting up his head

Ahab in his pride
Flirting like a fanatic
Nursing one good leg
With Moby Dick

Srinivasa in Madras
Flirting with numbers
With the personal blessings
Of his own Goddess

Lovely, rustic Emma
Flirting with arsenic
In love with love
And Rodolphe, the cynic

And flirting with each ball
Sehwag, living dangerously
On his own way to a second
Epic triple century.
