Fence

One or two words

Explodes under the sky

Watching it burn, watching it destroy-

Only to slow down the crossing of

The boundary of the simile and metaphor.

The form and style infuse

The meter and tempo to

A logical path, a careful walk

Only to bring the sunshine and shade

The forgotten pain and scar of the sharpened tip.

Agree that pen and paper can make

Music to solve the eternal puzzle,

To listen carefully, to discern good from bad

Only to lit up the works of life

The implicit expression of each and everything.

I greatly enjoyed reading this.A poet’s poem for other poets;if I may say though not exclusively. “The boundary of the simile and metaphor” I think captures the very fine “dividing”lines, the raw insubstantial “materials”, we as poets habitually work with.
