Drowning

Drowning, I caught the straw.
The straw smiled at me,
Eyes full of compassion,
Knowing fully well
It could not save me.
‘I leave your hand my dear friend,
I said in a gentle voice.
I would not drag you
In this huge watery tomb.
Weary of this life, I depart
With regrets none and smiles many.
