On a journey by train
From the glass window
Looking beyond the mist
Towards the rolling mountain
The widespread valley,
The setting orange sun
You feel the oneness…
The blue sky is as much as your eye
The green grass is nothing but your fingers
The twilight colour is your vibrant mind
The branches of the tree are your hands and legs
Time disappears for a moment
The things that are not yours
Now in your total possession
Here everything is seen
Here everything is heard
No separation from anything
No boundary wall can be seen
No division between you and others
It’s a smooth sail, a seamless voyage
You meet yourself at the end.
Train journey , more than anything else , somehow gives a chance to refresh the mind in a unique way . Why ? I have no answer to that . I would imagine this poem is nearest to the answer !
” Coherence ” conveys the passenger/reader on a spiritual journey of self-realisation . Gopal’s poetic narrative achieves this undertaking without forcing the pace nor by any excess of metaphor or allegory which is always a tricky task for those less skilled in poetry. The lines , ” The things that are not your yours, now in your total possession ” , echo and reinforce the Latin maxim , ” Carpe Diem ” -“Sieze the day “.
Lovely poem.
Made me feel like I was traveling…
