Yesterday it slipped through my fingers
When I was drowsy or in a dream
Glistening as a tear drop
Sweet as the nectar
Fragile as a glass bowl
It fell to its end.
Too precociously,I felt.
Still numerous birds are there to be heard
Many more trees to climb
Many more streams to bath
Thousands of flowers to be smelled
Untold lies, unheard tales
Suppressed giggles and mischieves.
But it flowed in a gush of blood
Before I could wake up from my sleep.
Pretty nostalgic !
Thank you Lokesh Roy.
Bathe in and mischief would be correct – otherwise it’s a beautiful poem fathima
thank you sir,for your kind words.
The poem conveys the episodic, transient highlights of childhood’s unblemished, carefree optimism.
Childhood slips away unnoticed by children.. it is a lovely poem.
Thank you Louis and Reena ma’m for your kind words
