Centuries

Across centuries galore
Crowding the mind
A glimpse of the past
Through an opening door :

Peter finds
The world is upside down
Nero smiles
As the fires slowly burn

Galileo peers
Through his telescope
Shakespeare is busy
At the Globe

And as the door is closing
In the setting sun
W.B. Yeats is chasing
Maud Gonne.
