Caged Notes

Things are swirling around me
Unable to strike a chord with you
Things are submitting to unrest
Nothing is in harmony with me

Alone in this musical world
I’m only listening your tunes
Carved in this instrument, I’m
Detached from the other world

You entangled me in a few strings
Made me play thousand notes
I’m behind bars as a caged bird
Untouched by ripples of my own

Is this imprisonment a choice,
Or my utter helplessness?
Don’t need an answer any more
I’ve hid myself behind calmness

If you insist, let me ask you…..
Seeing my entity in this entirety
Judging my tune, my melody
Is life moving in my stony stare?

Can you see in me greenness,
Among dry woods all around me?
Can’t you infer from this state,
That my spring is in exile?

About Nikhat Bano

I am an ESP (English for Specific Purposes) Instructor by profession. I love to write romantic and spiritual poems and I find a great sense of relief after penning down my thoughts on paper. It has now become a passion for me and will continue as long as I live.
