Breaking Free

On the brink of a cascade,
on the helm of a snowy peak,
there is a moment that staggers,
there is a feeling that lingers,
a lonely waver that weakens,
a darkness which shivers.

Fumbling on its crevices;
Hanging by the arête;
Arching fingers cling,
to the hidden loads of fear,
to the stubborn pain and tear.

Injured thought that couldn’t fathom,
Inclined heart’s unwavering ascend.
Sets up a whim to abseil any hope,
Sends across a glance bidding adieu.

to plunge and give into the pull,
to sink into its cold blue depths,
Sway limbless in rapture of the deep,
Snorkel through minds algal blooms.

That chokes all attempts to be alive.
that moment where you break,
all venomous bubbles of doubt,
all chains that shackles love.
