Bob Marley

Bob, your pioneer contribution to singing

In a wide cultural perspective

Fashions the drama of existence.

By your sensuous intelligence

And humanistic integrity, full of the milk

Of wisdom and inventiveness, you provided

A liberating image of the indomitable spirit

And versatility of man.

You believed that the greatness of a man

Is not how much wealth he acquires

But his integrity and ability

To affect those around him positively.

Some people feel the rain

And others just get wet.

For you, one cannot gain the world

And lose one’s soul

For wisdom is better than silver or gold.

Loving the life you lived

And living the life you loved,

You were of opinion that beginnings

Are usually scarry

And endings are usually sad,

But it’s everything in between

That makes it worth living.

You were of opinion that the truth

Is that everyone is going to hurt you,

You just got to find the ones

Worth suffering for.

Bob, your singing catches the dewdrop

And reflects the cosmos exerting

A far-reaching influence on our age.

With your high spirit and artistic purity,

You believed that if we lived for ourselves,

We will live in vain

And if we lived for others,

We will live again.

We do miss you lots dear Bob

And yet, when we listen to your songs,

We feel you are still alive

And that you never left us alone.
