Along the rain’s pitter patter
I hear the whispers of my parents’ voice
Am I really the orphan whom
They left alone forever!
The kittens are beaten away by the mother
And they sit looking at her indifferently
She is another cat in the crowd now
They grow into strangers so fast
The babies sleep cuddling to each other
When the rain does its ferocious round
I too cuddle that emptiness in such fondness
Which left within as a solace for the orphan me
My eyes have gone bleak with hopelessness
And words muted nodding to the ways of this world
Touching poem.
Thank you Vineetha.
