In the silent night, I saw a falling star
It descended slowly on Earth
As if it were a bird, a sparkling bird with a fiery tail
As if it were a messenger from the Heavens, a glowing one!
A falling star
A show of the mystery of our being
A falling star
A proof of how vast and diverse is our existence
Why
If I could, I would have flown in the night sky
If I could, I would have helped the star rise back up
Back up to where it was
Back up to those lands talked about in those books so holy!
I would have flown and seen for myself
The beauty of that known as the exquisite eternity!
The star fell and fell, until it disintegrated
And watching it, my tears started to fall
Beings we are, blinded by our lives,
Blinded to the extent of believing that this world is the center point of life
Blinded to the extent of falling for the many traps laid down for us
Why,
Blinded to the extent of lamenting at the sight of death!
The shooting star, I wonder, did it rejoice of its being
Did it rejoice of its demise
Was it, like most humans, frustrated at being?
Was it, like most humans, fed up with its duty?
Pray
In the silent night, I stretched back on the cold grass
I stared up at the skies and I let go of all my apprehensions
Life is such
We are all to accept it
We are all to love it
Only then, shall it love us back!
A thoroughly engaging and delightfully vibrant poem.
